Florida Presidential Election Results 2024: Donald Trump has won Florida, according to multiple news agencies, including the Associated Press. Trump secured all 30 of Florida’s Electoral College votes, reinforcing his dominance in the state. In the 2020 election, Trump won Florida with 51% of the vote against Joe Biden’s 48%, while in 2016, he defeated Hillary Clinton with 49% to her 48%. Once a crucial swing state, Florida has increasingly leaned Republican in recent years and was less of a battleground in this election. Trump, who resides in Florida, also had the support of the state’s Republican governor, Ron DeSantis.

This time, Trump not only strengthened his position in Republican strongholds but also made gains in Florida’s battleground regions. He outperformed Vice President Kamala Harris in several areas traditionally leaning Democratic. By the time 80% of the expected vote was counted, Trump was leading Harris by 11 percentage points, prompting the AP to call the race in his favor.

Perhaps the biggest surprise came in Miami-Dade County, a Democratic stronghold that Trump managed to flip. Biden won the county by 7 percentage points in 2020, but this time Trump carried it, marking a significant shift that dealt a blow to the Democrats.

With over 81% of the vote counted when the race was called, Harris would have needed to secure 73% of the remaining votes to catch up to Trump, an almost impossible feat at that point.

The candidates in the presidential race included Vice President Kamala Harris (Democrat), Donald Trump (Republican), Claudia De la Cruz (Socialism and Liberation), Chase Oliver (Libertarian), Peter Sonski (American Solidarity), Jill Stein (Green), and Randall Terry (Constitution).

Winner: Donald Trump.
