He cited a new law signed by California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Monday, which prohibits school districts from requiring staff to inform parents of their child’s gender identification change, as the “final straw.”
Musk mentioned that he had previously warned Governor Newsom that such legislation would drive families and businesses away from California to safeguard their children.
Tesla, also led by Musk, moved its headquarters from Palo Alto, California, to Austin in 2021. Musk has additionally relocated his residence from California to Texas, a state with no personal income tax.
