The killing of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk, who was a key aide of US President Donald Trump, has reverberated throughout America and the impact of his assassination is being felt in the corridors of Washington as Utah governor Spencer Cox told media that the alleged killer Tyler Robinson is “not cooperating” with authorities, BBC reported.
Kirk, 31, who was in a Utah University in Orem, was shot dead on Wednesday and the suspect Robinson, 22, was taken into custody after a gruesome 33 hours chase by the administration that involved a multi-agency approach.
Utah Governor Cox, while apprising the media about the interrogation and the development in the investigation, said people around Robinson have been cooperating in the investigation. Cox, while appearing on various US news outlets, raised concerns regarding social media in the aftermath of Kirk’s assassination.
The Utah governor was also asked about a report published in the New York Times which claimed Robinson allegedly interacted with others after the shooting via Discord messaging platform, and the report also alleged that the suspect joked about being the gunman.
Charlie said, “When people stop talking, that’s when you get violence.”

“All we can confirm is that those conversations definitely were happening, and they did not believe it was actually him. It was, it was all joking until, until he, you know, until he admitted that it actually was him,” said Cox to ABC News.
Kirk, who had founded Turning Point USA, was holding an open-air event at Utah Valley University where he was speaking and in the midst of answering questions from the public, he was shot and killed. The event in Utah was an American Comeback Tour, under which Kirk travelled to several college campuses throughout the US.
The Utah governor has informed that roommate of Tyler Robinson was a romantic partner of Robinson and was transitioning from male to female. Investigators are looking into possibilities if it was the reason behind Kirk’s killing, and are also investigating a note left by Robinson.
