(AP photo)Two masked burglars broke into King Charles III’s Windsor Castle estate, stealing farm vehicles in an overnight raid, the UK police confirmed Monday. The estate is also home to Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their children.
The incident occurred on October 13, when two men scaled a six-foot fence and used a stolen truck to break through a security gate. The Prince and Princess of Wales and their children were sleeping at Adelaide Cottage. During the break-in, the burglars made off with a black Isuzu pick-up truck and a red quad bike stored in a barn.
Thames Valley Police said the suspects fled toward the Old Windsor/Datchet area, while confirming that no arrests have been made yet. “Offenders entered a farm building and made off with vehicles,” the police statement read. An investigation is underway into the incident.

Sources indicated King Charles and Queen Camilla were not present at the castle, and police protection ensured no immediate danger to the royals staying on the estate, which is located about 40km west of London.
Spanning 15,800 acres, the Windsor Castle estate has working farms, conservation areas, and royal landmarks, including the iconic Windsor Castle, a major tourist attraction.
The recent burglary adds to security concerns at Windsor Castle. In a previous break-in instance in December 2021, Jaswant Singh Chail was arrested after scaling a fence armed with a loaded crossbow, claiming he wanted to kill Queen Elizabeth II as revenge for the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
Chail has since been sentenced to nine years for treason and other charges.
