Kanyakumari Glass Sea Bridge: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin opened India’s first glass bridge at Kanyakumari on December 30, 2024, in addition to marking the city’s silver jubilee of the unveiling of the Thiruvalluvar statue by late Chief Minister M Karunanidhi.
The bridge offers a unique experience of walking above the ocean while admiring the city’s grandeur.
Recently, collector R. Alagumeena examined the bridge, which has become a popular tourist attraction.

The Poompuhar Boat Corporation even extended its ferry service hours during the Pongal Festival 2025.
To ensure the safety of tourists, 35 officials from various agencies, including the Indian Coast Guard, police, revenue, and tourism, were present to assist tourists and monitor the operation.
Executed at a cost of ₹37 crore by the state government, the bowstring arch bridge is a substantial investment in Kanyakumari’s tourist infrastructure.
It is 77 meters long and 10 meters wide and connects the Vivekananda Memorial to the Thiruvalluvar statue in the Kanniyakumari district.
It is ideally located and encompasses the meeting point of the Arabian Sea, the Bay of Bengal, and the Indian Ocean, offering a 360-degree panoramic view.
Since the bridge’s opening, Kanniyakumari has seen an increase in the number of tourists from various locations, and the bridge provides them with a clear view of the sea, boosting their experience.
