A customer recently shared a light-hearted complaint on X about an unexpected surprise with their food delivery from Zomato. After ordering shawarma from the popular Empire Restaurant in Bengaluru, they were charged an extra Rs 12 for packaging. However, when the food arrived, it was packed in a box featuring an advertisement for Bengaluru FC, the city’s Indian Super League team.

The customer expressed frustration online, asking, why does he need to pay extra for the advertisement of Bengaluru FC? The situation quickly caught attention, sparking amusement and curiosity among fellow users.

“Hi @zomatocare, I ordered shawarma from Empire Restaurant, Bangalore, and paid Rs 12 as packing charges. But found that the package is wrapped by @bengalurufc Advertisement. Why do I need to pay for their advertisement? How many orders rolled out with this box for paid users????” the caption of the post reads.

Bengaluru FC’s goalkeeper and captain of the Indian national football team, Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, responded to the post with a light-hearted tone, jokingly asking, “GPay number dedo bhai – wapis karta hoon Rs 12 (Share your GPay number brother – I’ll refund your Rs 12).

 

Sandhu’s light-hearted reply entertained fans and ignited discussions on social media.

One user quipped, “Bhai roundoff karke 15 de dena bechare ko.” Another user wrote, “Internet is a wild wild place.”

Many users came in support for the Zomato customer. A user commented, “Hope you realise that he is not criticising BFC here.” Another user wrote, “Being a consumer, he has the right to ask zomato for packing charges.”
