Young Parineeti Chopra’s rare Doordarshan performance resurfaces, the Internet is in awe

In a 2004 television programme hosted by Doordarshan Chandigarh, Parineeti Chopra, then 15, could be seen singing a patriotic song.

Till the time the then Indian government, in the early 90s, decided to open up the market to private players and cable television took the country by storm, Doordarshan was the only television channel available. And, it was a big deal. However, Doordarshan’s popularity declined over the years as new channels launched.

Now, a video that is going viral on Instagram has footage from a Doordarshan Chandigarh show telecast in 2004. It shows a young Parineeti Chopra, then just 15, singing along with some other kids.

The video was shared by @star_retrotv on Instagram. Dressed in traditional attire, Chopra belts out a patriotic song with the other kids. It’s like a time machine, taking us back to a simpler era. People online are buzzing about it, reminiscing about the time they used to watch Doordarshan. Many users also wondered how Chopra hasn’t changed much since then.
