Ram, grappling with a tight income and a constrained lifestyle, voiced his struggles. Moved by his plight, Gandhi promised assistance. True to his word, the next day, he gifted Ram an electric shoe-stitching machine, aiming to ease his burdens and support his livelihood.

“My world has completely changed. Nobody knew me before, but now people come to my shop and take selfies with me,” PTI quoted Ramchait as saying.

Ramchait remains firm on his decision to not sell the slippers Gandhi stitched. “Many people have asked me to put a price on the shoes. I told all of them that it is a priceless possession and I do not plan to sell it,” he said.
