Two men travelled on the Delhi Metro in skirts, defying stereotypes surrounding clothing and pushing androgynous dressing. A video showing them flaunting their skirts has gone viral on social media.

The clip shared by Instagram user Sameer Khan shows Khan and his friend clad in t-shirts, denim skirts, a pair of sneakers, sunglasses and handbags walking in a cool-headed manner. People inside the metro coach and the station are seen staring at them in shock and surprise.

“Wore skirt in Delhi metro,” read the text insert in the clip. Since being shared on April 16, the video has got more than 7,51,000 views on the Meta-owned platform.

The video has elicited several responses from Instagram users. A user commented, “why do they care when lungi serves the same purpose???” Another user wrote, “Its Comfortable, stylish & super versatile Dont see why Everyone shouldn’t wear it.” A third user wrote, “And killed it.”

In March, fashion content creator Shivam Bhardwaj took the internet by storm when he wore a black skirt on a Mumbai local train. Clad in a black flowing skirt, t-shirt and sunglasses, he flaunted his style while people stared at him. In a conversation with indianexpress.com, he said that skirts were historically worn both by men and women.
