‘Accuracy level 100%’: TV serial parody turns a hit online

The ‘enemies to lover’ trope is perhaps one of the most common story arcs in several TV shows, be it Netflix’s internationally popular Bridgerton or Indian soaps like Qubool Hai, Kumkum Bhagya, or Dill Mill Gaye.

For Indian shows that have ‘enemies to lovers’ element in their plot, a few other features are common, such as rich boy from big city meets small town girl with modest means, bad first impressions eventually turning into fondness, and a series of small fights ripe with witty exchanges between the protagonists.

Jagjyot Singh (@aapkajags), a popular video content creator on Instagram, has condensed all these common features into short skits that parody teasers for a quintessential love-hate romantic TV show. Singh’s show, titled ‘Aaaja Piya Tohe Pyar Doon’ purportedly airs on ‘Aag Lagey TV’.

These ‘teasers’ for ‘Aaaja Piya Tohe Pyar Doon’ have gathered lakhs of likes, with some netizens jokingly demanding the release of full episodes.

Commenting on one of Singh’s videos, an Instagram user wrote, “Aag Lage tv has better serial promo than any other channels ”. Another person queried where to get full episodes of the show to show the person’s mom.
