Just days ahead of Durga Puja, heavy rains have thrown Kolkata off balance, flooding large parts of the city and derailing transport, daily routines and last-minute festive plans. Amid the disruption, an Instagram clip is doing the rounds showing what appears to be a blue-and-silver Rolls-Royce Ghost stalled in knee-deep water. In the video, the luxury car sits motionless while motorbikes and smaller vehicles carefully make their way around it. A few tree branches are even placed across its hood, hinting at the fact that it’s been stuck there for a while. The post went up with the caption: “When natural calamity makes you realise the age old advice from our grandparents " Ja ache tai niye khushi thako (Be happy with what you have)" Hoping everyone to be safe out there.” Watch the video: View this post on Instagram A post shared by Debarghya Dey (@debarghya_dey) The clip quickly stirred up anger online, with many users calling it yet another reminder of Kolkata’s crumbling drainage and road systems. Show off karne nikaala tha.. track pant ko shorts banake and naali ke paani mein nahake ghar waapas gaya!” Kolkata has been battered by one of its heaviest rainfalls in 37 years, leaving streets and homes inundated just days before Durga Puja.
