From featuring in the Indian Premier League (IPL) this year to being appointed Donald Trump’s ‘bodyguard’, robot dogs are invading the tech industry with their multi-functionality. The four-legged ‘device’, which has been sending the Internet into a frenzy over the last two years, has now been spotted walking down the streets of Bengaluru.

In a video shared by an X handle @Runtime, the robot dog can be seen walking around HSR Layout in Bengaluru. According to the viral post, the robot dog, PARAM, weighs 35 kg and has eight hours of battery life with hot-swappable batteries. Resharing the post, tech influencer Caleb said that PARAM is “almost entirely indigenous” as the only non-Indian parts are the Nvidia Jetson GPU and actuators.

“This is so much more impressive when you realise that this robot dog is almost entirely indigenous. Only non-Indian parts are the actuators + Nvidia Jetson GPU. Oh, and it was built by a team of 5 people in 30 days. IP67 rated, running temperature: -20C to +55C,” Caleb wrote on X.

The post quickly drew attention, prompting a wave of reactions. Several users hailed the development, with one saying, “Impressive work, our technocrats and your reporting needs more appreciation and support.” Another user commented, “What about the software? That’s the most crucial factor of any robot. 30 days is definitely not enough to develop such software. Assembling a computer is not the same as creating a computer.”

“seems it only have commercial use case, and compete with Boston Dynamics if they are able to mass produce at cheaper costs,” a third user reacted. “India is waking up to its potential,” a fourth user chimed in.

Meanwhile, a video of robotic dogs with the faces of Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, and Jeff Bezos in a futuristic art installation titled ‘Regular Animals’ took the Internet by storm. Created by digital artist Beeple, these robotic dogs are reportedly programmed to walk, lie down, and sit.
