On Tuesday, the internet woke up with myriad clips from Parliament. A video of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP Manoj Kumar Jha attacking the Election Commission of India (ECI) using popular web series ‘Panchayat’ reference is widely circulated on social media.
In the viral video, Jha cited a pre-poll survey conducted by Lokniti-CSDS, which stated that only 28 per cent of respondents trust the Election Commission. “Election Commission ke credibility ka ek survey hua. 28 per cent logon ka sirf bharosa hai. Isse jyada bharosa toh Panchayat web series mein Phulera ke gram pradhan ka hai (A survey was conducted on the credibility of the Election Commission. Only 28 per cent of people have trust in the constitutional body. Even the village head of Phulera in Panchayat web series has more credibility than the Election Commission),” Jha said in the video.

This is what the Indian public wants; the issues should be discussed and the voice of the poor should resonate in the parliament.” Another user wrote, “Dekhiye Binod, Hum loksabha mein charcha ba gayii! (Look Binod! We are being discussed in Lok Sabha).”
“What should we call this? The great success of the Election Commission or the victory of democracy,” a third user reacted.
