Cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin is among the many Twitter users who were left confused by the announcement that the SMS-based two-factor authentication service will be available only to the Twitter Blue subscribers from March 20.
Ashwin, who finished the Border Gavaskar Trophy as the highest wicket-taker with 25 scalps, posted a query tagging Elon Musk, who has effected many changes on the social network since taking over as CEO.
“Ok !! how do I get my Twitter account secure before the 19th of March now, I keep getting pop ups but none of the links lead out to any clarity. @elonmusk happy to do the needful. Point us in the right direction pls,” he tweeted.

“Try authenticator app. Use it for additional security,” a Twitter user suggested. “Verified accounts can you use SMS option for multi factor authentication. Non-verified users need to use app Authenticator for MFA after the cut of Date. No SMS auth after cutoff date. Settings in security page,” another said. “Just share ur password with me I’ll secure it by changing to s stronger password,” a third user joked.
Ashwin was jointly named the Man of the Series along with fellow spinner Ravindra Jadeja in the recently concluded series against Australia, in which India triumphed 2-1.
He celebrated the Player of the Series award by posting a funny Instagram reel along with Jadeja. The two cricketers created the video based on a comedy scene featuring Akshay Kumar. The clip from the 2005 film Deewane Huye Paagal was recreated hilariously as the cricketers distributed their awards between themselves. “And the #Oscar goes to…” Ashwin captioned the clip and also credited India’s strength and conditioning coach Soham Desai for the video.
