A dramatic video is making the rounds on social media, showing rafting guides thrashing some tourists at the Brahmapuri rafting point in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand. The video of the incident from Friday has gone viral, leaving viewers stunned and raising questions about what triggered the violence.

In the video reshared by @gharkekalesh on X, it can be seen how rafting guides thrashed tourists, who appeared to be gearing up for a rafting adventure. The tourists were seen scrambling away from the riverbank as several rafting guides struck them repeatedly with paddles. The chaotic video showed people ducking and dodging blows, while others are seen yelling and trying to protect themselves.

The exact cause of the violence remains unclear. Some speculate that a dispute over fees or safety protocols might have played a role, which is not unusual in this popular rafting destination.

According to various reports, despite the intensity of the brawl, no one has come forward to file a formal police complaint. The video has garnered widespread attention amassing over 46.2K views.

Reacting to the video, one user commented, “they have switched from Atithi devo bhava to Atithi ku to bhava.” Another user said, “Weapons were also provided for the fight, what a thing. There’s trouble everywhere.”

A third user responded to the video in Hindi, which roughly translates to, “Probably an everyday thing. Last summer we were here at the boat dock. After Ganga Aarti, these boatmen started beating a tourist taking bath with oars and picked up big stones. Seeing their attitude the poor family members could neither understand nor do anything. They beat him up and left in a matter of minutes. Peace of Rishikesh..?”

Rishikesh is a hotspot for adventure seekers, particularly known for its rafting experiences. Each year, especially at the onset of summer holidays, the area sees a surge of tourists eager to ride the rapids of the Ganges.
