Firefighters in Ahmedabad rescued a father-daughter duo from a 60-feet-deep well near a Derasar (Jain temple) in the Chandlodiya area of the city on Sunday night.

While the reason for their falling into the well remains unknown, the firefighters rescued both the persons who clung on to the pipe of the submersible motor in the well.

As soon as the fire control room received the call on Sunday night, a team led by Navrangpura Fire Station Officer (STO) Hitesh Patel was deployed to the spot. They reached there to find Rajesh Soni (45) and his daughter Anjali (22) hanging on to the pipe with the latter on the verge of collapse and being supported by her father.

“We used life buoys and lowered a firefighter down into the well. We first fastened the woman with a chair knot and pulled her out. She was taken to Sola Civil Hospital,” said STO Patel.

“By that time, the man was also on the verge of losing consciousness. Our firefighter was supporting him and keeping his head out of water. We rescued him the same way and sent him to the hospital,” he said.
