The successful landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the Moon’s south pole on August 23 was a historic occasion for India as it became the first country to do so and the fourth overall to land on the lunar body’s surface.
Now, a video has surfaced online showing an inflight announcement being made on an IndiGo flight about the success of India’s lunar mission. A woman, who works for IndiGo, who goes by the name C Lekha (@ChhaviLeekha) on X, formerly Twitter, shared the video on the microblogging platform.
“We took immense pleasure to announce that Chandrayaan-3 successfully performed a soft landing on the Moon’s south pole. Making India the first nation in the world to achieve this feat,” a text insert in the video says.
“A very special announcement to be made. It gives me and Captain Rajiv immense pleasure in announcing to you that Chandrayaan-3 launched by ISRO has successfully landed on the south pole of the Moon. And with the landing of Vikram lander, it has placed India among elite spacefaring nations. With the Pragyan rover set for exploration, we congratulate ISRO for this remarkable achievement,” a pilot is heard saying in the video. The announcement was met with a huge round of applause by the passengers.
“A lot has already been said about #chnadrayaan3 and yet this share is about the immense pride that everyone @IndiGo6E felt whether on ground or in the air .. our captains announcement on flight on this thrilling feat achieved by our #Bharat at that moment,” the woman wrote while sharing the video.

“This gave me goosebumps!!” commented a user. “This is for That Guy with his hand in the cast,” wrote another along with clapping emojis.
The Indian Space Research Organisation on Friday released a video of the Chandrayaan-3 rover Pragyan ramping down from the lander to the surface of the Moon. The 30-second video shared by the ISRO was taken by the imager camera installed on the lander ‘Vikram’.
