As per The Morung Express, the incident took place around 11.35 pm at Dimapur Railway Station, when the four-wheeler reportedly entered the tracks near the platform area, close to the old flyover on the Burma Camp side, and was stuck on Line No 1.
The episode was caught on video, which showed the SUV attempting to move along the tracks before losing momentum and getting stranded. Shocked onlookers can be heard shouting, and reacting in the background.

The driver was identified as Thepfuneituo, a resident of Signal Angami in Dimapur district. Initial findings suggest that the incident was the result of “gross negligence and violation of traffic and railway safety norms.”
Soon after receiving alerts, police personnel and railway officials rushed to the scene. The SUV was removed safely without any damage to the railway infrastructure or injuries to passengers, according to The Morung Express.
Authorities took the vehicle and the driver into custody and registered a case at the Railway Protection Force, Dimapur, on December 17 under relevant sections of the Railway Act, according to India Today.
“The vehicle was safely intercepted and removed from the railway tracks, ensuring that no harm was caused to passengers, railway property, or the general public,” the police were quoted as saying by The Morung Express.
Officials said investigations are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances, and whether the driver was under the influence of alcohol or any other substance.
As videos of the incident spread across social media, users responded with a mix of shock and sarcasm. Many reactions zeroed in on the vehicle itself, with some suggesting a recurring trend.
