Man surprises girlfriend with Bollywood-style proposal at Times Square, video wins hearts: ‘Lucky woman’

Bollywood has long influenced some of the best real-life proposals that won hearts on social media. An Indian couple recently grabbed eyeballs after the man planned a surprise proposal for his partner at the bustling Times Square in New York City.

The heartwarming moment was shared on Instagram by Parth Maniar, who uploaded a video capturing a dance performance on the popular Hindi song “Pretty Woman” from the movie Kal Ho Naa Ho, featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta.

In the viral video, Maniar can be seen dancing energetically with his squad as the crowd at New York’s Times Square stops to watch. His partner, also featured in the reel, smiles joyfully as the group breaks into choreography to the Bollywood favourite.

“When the homies become dancers so you can become a fiancé,” Parth captioned the video.

The video quickly took over the Internet, garnering nearly 2 million views as numerous users hailed the couple. “I would literally start crying,” a user wrote. “These days such Show-off relationships get divorced faster than their Instagram stories,” another user commented.

“Another day of being happy for a stranger. You are a lucky woman. happy for you,” a third user reacted.

He also added two more clips showing the group dancing to other Bollywood tracks.

Another post on his profile features a still from the most heartfelt part of the proposal. The image shows Maniar down on one knee, presenting a ring to a woman dressed in a flowing red gown and a white shawl. She appears delighted and surprised, smiling as a crowd forms around them.

Last year, a video of fashion influencer Aishwarya Bansal proposing to her partner mid-air went viral on social media, stealing hearts. Bansal walked down the aisle toward Amulya, her partner, while a crew member said, “Ladies and gentlemen, we have a special announcement for a special couple on board. Requesting Mr Amulya for his kind attention”. Bansal then goes down on her knees and proposes to him.
