TRIGGER WARNING

A video of a woman who collapsed and died while dancing at the sangeet function at a wedding in Vidisha, Madhya Pradesh, is grabbing eyeballs and sparking a conversation on heart attacks among the youth in India. According to a report in NDTV, Parinita Jain, 23, was a resident of Indore and was performing at her cousin’s wedding, which was attended by more than 200 people.

The viral footage shows Parinita dressed in traditional attire, dancing to the Bollywood hit number “Sharara Sharara”. A few seconds into her performance, Parinita collapsed on the stage.

The video quickly gained traction, prompting a stir among social media users. “Seems like she had a heart attack and high sound just triggered it,” a user wrote. “Many people don’t know their congenital diseases,” another user commented.

According to NDTV, some doctors in the family tried to revive Parinita by performing CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), but she didn’t respond. Further, she was taken to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced her dead. The report also stated that Parinita’s younger brother had tragically passed away due to a heart attack at the age of 12.

A similar incident was reported in April last year, wherein an 18-year-old girl collapsed and died while dancing at her sister’s pre-wedding festivities in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut. The viral clip showed the girl trying to match dance steps with her family members when she suffered pain in her chest. She was visibly uncomfortable, attempting to hold a boy dancing next to her before collapsing.

In another incident, a 28-year-old Delhi woman passed away while dancing during her pre-wedding festivities in Uttarakhand’s Nainital.
