You must have experienced college life through various fests and events organised on campus. However, a university in Lahore is going viral for its annual ritual wherein two seniors are picked for a ‘fake shaadi’ (fake wedding) on the campus where students have fun just like a real wedding.

The Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) has been trending after a Twitter user Lord Ayan (@ayan_khan17) shared videos of students enjoying the festivities. Sharing videos from Instagram stories, the ritual involves a fake groom and bride who wear wedding attire.

While the fake groom is seen dressed in a sherwani, the woman dressed as a bride is seen donning a lehenga. Even other students are dressed in formals as they engage in dance performances to popular Bollywood songs. At the end, they are even seen enacting the ritual of ‘vidaai’. “Lums having an annual fake shaadi, where two seniors are picked to get married, sounds so fun,” says the caption of the video.

“I hope there is no Ijab and Qabool! That would seal the relationship as actually married per Islamic law. Sui juris individuals plus witnesses plus offer and acceptance equates to an actual marriage regardless of whether it was intended as a JOKE!” commented a user.

“It would have been better if they had selected a real couple,” said another. “How do you do this and not fall in love,” wrote a third. “Why is it all over internet,” posted another netizen.
