Living in a hostel invariably means learning to improvise. A video is going viral showing how a group of hostellers use minimum resources and cook momos from scratch.
The video was posted online by Instagram users @ritika_sau and @_chandana.pandit_. It shows a group of girls using tools from a toy kitchen set and a kettle to make momos.
This video has got over two lakh likes. Commenting on it, an Instagram user wrote, “Finally I have seen the actual use of child’s play kitchen set 😂”. Another user wrote, “Girls like them make chappan bhog with kitchen set”.
Praising the creative use of the electric kettle, another Instagram user wrote, “That one kettle is enough🤘🤘🤘”. Yet another user said, “Butane gas can and stove takes less space than a kettle and you can cook anything on it…. camping cookware are perfect for hostel students.”
This is not the only video of improvised cooking that has gone viral. In January 2018, a popular Facebook group, Edmonton Vich Punjabis, shared a video that showed a Punjabi family making chapatis using a fireplace instead of a stove. It showed a woman rolling out the dough in front of a wooden fireplace and serving her family hot phulkas. She had to use the fireplace because of a prolonged power outage, a man could be heard explaining in the clip.
