Social media is buzzing with the story of an engineer who decided he’d had enough of the overpriced metro lifestyle, and made a bold move that’s now inspiring others. Tired of paying steep rent in Noida, Raj, who works in the Web3 space, said he decided to pack his bags and shift to Goa. And the Internet can’t get enough of his transformation.

It all started last year when Raj posted a photo from his Noida apartment, sarcastically calling the view “dreamy.” The image showed a plain wall of the neighbouring building — a far cry from the scenic life many imagine when shelling out Rs 64,000 a month in rent. That post struck a nerve, sparking conversations around the ever-increasing rent in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR).

Raj has now shared a much cheerier update, saying he has moved to Goa, and is paying just Rs 19,000 a month for an apartment — which is “so worth it.” And this time, he’s not being sarcastic.

His new home features a covered patio looking out over a peaceful patch of trees — a definite upgrade from concrete walls. Raj also mentioned that the apartment came with a decent Wi-Fi connection and an inverter, making the transition smooth. He’s been living there for just two weeks, but so far, he said he hasn’t faced any issues.

His post went viral, with people jumping in to applaud the move and share their own plans. One user commented, “Huh! That looks amazing. You’re gonna have some best time.” Another added, “That’s the plan in a few years.” Someone else chimed in, “Welcome to Goa, I moved here from Noida in December 2023 though I had my own apartment in Noida. I’m paying 15k here in South Goa for a 2 BHK fully furnished apartment!”

The comments section is now flooded with questions about his new place, the neighbourhood, and how others might be able to follow suit.
