Elephant charges at man after persistent teasing, viral video sparks outrage: ‘arrest him’

A video of a man teasing an elephant has triggered an outrage on social media, with users calling for stringent action against him. Shared by IFS officer Parveen Kaswan on X, the video shows the horrifying encounter between the animal and the man.

The viral video shows a man running in what appears like a tourist spot, in the middle of a forest, and an elephant chasing him. As the video progresses, one can see the man persistent teasing, provoking the animal to attack. The man continues to run for a while, stops, and chases the elephant again. The elephant’s anger due to continuous mocking can be clearly seen in the clip. However, the man continues to tease it until it runs back to its herd.

Kaswan wrote, “Identify the animal in this video. Maybe you are young and you can outrun the elephants. But these irritated animals don’t behave peacefully if they see other human for next few days. Don’t irritate wild animals for your fun.”

In another post, the IFS officer explained the behavioural pattern of elephants, calling them “highly intelligent and social animals”. He highlighted that harassment by humans could trigger behavioural changes in the animals, making them aggressive and could inflict a long-term human-elephant conflict.

The video has amassed a million views, prompting a major backlash against the man. An X user wrote, “I would send this boy for work in zoo picking up the animal poop for 6 months.” Another user commented, “Find him and arrest him sir please.”

“Watching this only gave me so much anxiety; hats off to the patience of an elephant,” a third user reacted.
