After the BTech panipuri wali, Delhi has found its new entrepreneur — the Vada Pav girl. Chandrika Gera Dixit, a street vendor, quit her job at Haldiram and started a vada pav stall in Delhi’s Sainik Vihar.

A video of Dixit crying on the phone while selling Vada Pav is doing rounds on the internet. She can be heard claiming that she has been facing pressure from officials of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) to remove her food stall. She also claims the officials have been demanding money even after she recently paid them between Rs 30,000-35,000. She then calls her brother for help.

The reasons behind the MCD officials’ threat to shut down her food stall, ‘Mumbai ka famous Vada Pav (Mumbai’s authentic Vada Pav)’, are not clear in the video.

The video took over the internet, amassing reactions from social media users. While a section of users gave her legal advice, others called it fake. A user commented, “Have you taken permission with a proper paperwork first instead of crying?” Another user wrote, “She is crying after putting 2 wireless mic. The sound should be clear.”

“Take license and do it officially no one will come and bother you. But don’t gain sympathy simply by crying. Rules are for all so better you follow,” the third user commented. “It is not about men or women it is about the rules by the mcd. Basically these food stalls are an encroachment on the government land,” another user argued.
