The festive spirit of Diwali swept across India, illuminating cities big and small with joy, colours, and lights. While the festival is often most closely associated with North India — where homes gleam with diyas and skies burst with fireworks – Bengaluru, too, shone brilliantly this year.

Aerial content creator Srihari Karanth (@sriharikaranth) beautifully captured the city’s celebration from above, offering a breathtaking glimpse of how the festival of lights unfolded in the southern metropolis. In a one-minute video shared on X, Karanth pieced together stunning aerial shots that showed Bengaluru gradually coming alive as fireworks lit up the night sky.

As the video progresses, the glow of the firecrackers intensifies, painting the cityscape in dazzling hues until the final frame looks almost like a work of art. Sharing the video, Karanth wrote, “An hour of Deepawali lights over Bengaluru, painted into a minute! Shot between 7 and 8 PM today.”

Another user asked, “You used camera remote to keep the shutter open for more than 30 seconds?” to which Karanth replied, “It was shot on a GoPro 11 using the long exposure mode, which keeps the shutter open until recording is stopped. The timelapse was for an hour almost.”

Some users mentioned the pollution levels in the comments section. An individual commented, “Is there similar artwork on Delhi which also shows the AQI?”
