Ordering food on Zomato has become second nature to many, but have you ever tried using the app right outside the restaurant you’re ordering from? That’s exactly what a Bengaluru woman did to dodge the long queue at the legendary Central Tiffin Room (CTR) restaurant. With a tight movie schedule looming, they found this ingenious way to save time.
Instead of waiting for a table, they placed an order for their favourite CTR dishes on Zomato and set the delivery location to just outside the restaurant, ensuring the delivery partner wouldn’t have to go out of their way. In just 25 minutes, their dosas arrived—beating the estimated 40 plus minutes they would have spent waiting to get a table at the restaurant.
Sharing her experience on X, the woman described how the delivery partner found the situation amusing and even wished them “Merry Christmas” before leaving with a generous tip. The group then savoured the iconic butter dosas in their car, making it to their movie on time.
While the plan worked brilliantly, it wasn’t without its hiccups. In a follow-up post, she noted a few downsides: the order came with just one type of chutney instead of the usual two, and the signature runny chutney was missing entirely. To top it off, no cutlery was provided.

Yesterday we had a @peakbengaluru moment:
– The queue was too long at CTR and we would be late for our #UiTheMovie if we had waited in the line.
– Opened Zomato, ordered BeNNe masale dosae and Kharabath to a location just outside CTR to minimise inconvenience to the driver
