When one thinks of a baraat or a wedding procession, one often imagines guests dancing to the beats of celebratory music as they walk towards the wedding venue. However, a family in Punjab took out their baraat on a fleet of 12 tractors.
A video of this unique wedding procession is going viral after it was posted online by a Twitter user Sudhir Kumar (@sudhir1544) on March 7. According to the tweet, the wedding took place in the family that runs the dealership of Swaraj Tractors in Panjab’s Sangrur.
Swaraj Tractors, established in 1974, is credited with making India’s first indigenous tractor. In 2007, the farm machinery and tractor company became part of the Mahindra Group.
Now THAT’S what I call being a member of the family! Badhai ho badhai. https://t.co/6vxIGqqAX4

Commenting on this video, Swaraj Tractors wrote, “Swaraj Tractors Congratulations to the entire family, thank you for making Swaraj part of this new beginning. Wishing you happy times ahead…”.
On Friday, Anand Mahindra, Chairman, Mahindra Group, also retweeted the video and wrote, “Now THAT’S what I call being a member of the family! Badhai ho badhai.”
This is not the only time when weddings have involved tractors. In June last year, Bharti Targe from Madhya Pradesh came to her wedding venue on a tractor. A video of this unconventional bride’s entry went viral on social media.
In December 2020, Sumit Dhull from Karnal ditched his luxury car behind and drove a tractor to his wedding to show support for the farmers’ protest against the now-scrapped farm laws.
