Following months of marketing, Greta Gerwig’s Barbie is not just ruling the box office but also the imagination of artists around the world. Digital artist Sahid S K created a set of images that depicts Bollywood divas as Mattel’s Barbie dolls. Earlier this month, following the release of Barbie, he shared a set of images titled ‘Bollywood Meets Barbie’ that imagined how leading and emerging actors such as Aishwarya Rai, Suhana Khan, Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone, and Anushka Sharma would look in their doll avatar. A few days ago, he shared another art series titled ‘Gangs of Wasseypur Characters in a Barbie World’. In the pictures, one saw actors such as Manoj Bajpayee, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Richa Chadda, Huma Qureshi, Piyush Mishra, and others dressed in pink with their country-made weapons replaced with toy guns. These images were created using Midjourney, a text prompt-based artificial intelligence programme. Previously, Sahid created hyperrealistic AI images based on Oppenheimer's theme as well. He created a set of photos that imagined what the cast of Hera Pheri would look like if Christopher Nolan directed the film. The picture showed actors Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, Sunil Shetty, Rajpal Yadav, Johny Lever, Sharat Saxena, Mukesh Khanna, and others in American period attire of perfectly cut suits and costumes. Sahid is not the only artist who has placed characters from one film against an entirely different backdrop. Earlier this month, digital artist Manoj Omre, placed Harry Potter franchise characters such as Hermione Granger, Severus Snape, Rubeus Hagrid, Sirius Black, Voldemort, Dumbledore, and Dobby as Sabyasachi models.
