From transforming their heartfelt moments with family and friends to sharing videos of themselves donning Ghibli-inspired outfits or makeup, the trend will not die soon. Amid several Instagram reels taking on the trend, one particular video has left the Internet in stitches as it went hilariously wrong. Snigdha Sharma, a dentist, shared a reel displaying her original photo alongside a Ghibli-inspired version. In the original image, she was sitting at a restaurant, waiting for her order, while the animated version completely altered the setting. ChatGPT had drawn her with three hands. In both versions, Sharma posed with her hands gently clasped under her chin and smiling. However, the Ghibli-style version added an extra hand, with one holding an ice cream cone in the AI-created hand. “Chatgpt- Tumse na ho paeyga.. Chatgpt be like- bs 19-20 ka farak hai (slight difference).” On March 27, ChatGPT released its “most advanced image generator yet” via an update to the GPT-4o model, triggering the Ghibli trend worldwide. However, on Sunday, Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, asked users to take it slow on the trend as it has impacted the company’s resources. “Can yall please chill on generating images this is insane our team needs sleep,” Altman wrote on X. Paul Graham, British computer-scientist and writer, responded to the post, asking, “Lots of people need to be awake when load is high?” to which, Altman explained, “we just haven’t been able to catch up since launch so people are still working to keep the service up biblical demand, i have never seen anything like it.” Studio Ghibli, the renowned Japanese animation studio founded in 1985 by Hayao Miyazaki, Isao Takahata, and Toshio Suzuki, is famous for its iconic animated films like "Spirited Away", "Kiki's Delivery Service," and more.
