Clad in a sweater and jeans, the professor confidently grooves across the room in the viral videoIn a refreshing change from the usual case studies and strategy-heavy sessions, an MBA class at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, got a surprise they’ll be talking about for years.
A video that’s now gone viral captures Professor Kartik Hosanagar suddenly breaking into a lively dance routine in the middle of the classroom, sending his students into cheers and laughter. Professor Hosanagar is the brother-in-law of Aparna Krishnan, who is Rohan Murty’s wife. Murty is the son of Infosys founder N R Narayana Murthy.
Clad in a sweater and jeans, the professor confidently grooves across the room, transforming the typically formal academic space into an impromptu dance floor. The clip shows him moving to a mash-up of upbeat tracks, including the hit Badtameez Dil from Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.
Wharton’s official Instagram handle shared the moment with the text, “POV: Your professor celebrates the end of the semester by dancing for your class.”
The caption reads, “Name a better way to end the semester, we’ll wait. Prof. Kartik Hosanagar (@profkartik) showed off his moves during what is becoming an end-of-semester dance-off tradition with his #WhartonMBA students.”
The fun description immediately drew attention, but it was the professor’s timing and sheer commitment that really won over viewers.

Students can be heard cheering him on, clearly thrilled by the unexpected performance.
As the video continues to gain traction, Instagram users are applauding the professor for adding some joy to the typically intense end-of-semester grind. Some even joked they wouldn’t mind extra classes if every lecture wrapped up with a dance.
Wharton’s account joined the fun in the comments too, writing, “Highly encourage watching until the end to see Prof. Hosanagar hit the Soulja Boy.”
Professor Hosanagar himself chimed in, saying, “Oh wow, judging by the engagement on this one, i may have to stop my AI posts and switch to dancing on Insta.”
Another amused viewer joked, “Interviewer: Where do you see yourself in 10 years? Me:”
Someone else added, “Where were such fun professors during my time.”
Another professor commented, “Great idea. Will try it out with my students next time around!”
