Watch: Chihuahua puts car in reverse, crosses four-lane road

“A couple was pumping gas at a gas station on Gause Blvd when the five-pound chihuahua somehow put the vehicle in the reverse. The SUV rolled backwards, crossed over a 4-lane road and came to rest at the gas station across the street,” read the tweet, which has now gone viral on social media.

Once viral, it did not take long for the post to be flooded with reactions. While many criticised the couple for not turning off the ignition of the vehicle, others wondered how the dog managed to put the car in reverse gear without pressing the brakes.

The police department later shared a CCTV footage of the incident, explaining how the dog managed to reverse the vehicle. “It was discovered that the vehicle had a mechanical issue, which allowed the transmission to change gears without something having to press the brake.”
