The much-anticipated coronation of King Charles III and his wife, now Queen Camilla, finally took place on Saturday with much pomp and ceremony at Westminster Abbey in London. The coronation, which was held almost eight months after the death of Queen Elizabeth II, was met with jubilant celebrations among those who cherish the royalty, and protests and mockery from those who are anti-monarchy.

On social media, memes covered everything from Prince Louis’s yawns and over-the-top antics, the fashion sense of the royal family members as well as the complicated royal family drama surrounding Princess Diana and the departure of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from the monarchy. Many memes also pointed to King Charles’s unpopularity among the general public, especially compared to Queen Elizabeth II.

Saturday’s ceremony was the first coronation of a British monarch in the 21st century that was aired live around the world and streamed online.
