“Love has no age, no limit, and no death,” is a timeless quote by English novelist John Galsworthy, and a couple from Philadelphia has lived up to this.

Bernie Littman, 100, and Marjorie Fiterman, 102, set a new Guinness World Record as the world’s oldest newlyweds, with a combined age of 202 years. This remarkable achievement was officially recognised on December 3 by Guinness World Records.

Their love story began nine years ago at a senior living community in Philadelphia, where they first met at a costume party. Their connection was instant, and over time, their bond deepened, culminating in a wedding ceremony on May 19 at the same place where their journey began.

Bernie and Marjorie had already experienced full and rich lives, each having been married for over six decades to their previous spouses before losing them to mortality. Though they both attended the University of Pennsylvania at the same time in their youth, fate had to wait until their later years to bring them together. Bernie worked as an engineer, while Marjorie dedicated her life to teaching.

Rabbi Adam Wohlberg, who officiated the ceremony, told Fox News, “Most of the couples I marry these days met on some kind of dating app. I much prefer the old ways, where you live in the same building, bump into each other, and fall in love.”

There were four generations of Bernie’s family present at the wedding. With their loved ones at their sides, the couple exchanged vows at their senior living facility under a traditional Jewish chuppah. As they began this new chapter in their life together, Bernie and Marjorie were escorted to the ceremony on wheelchairs and exuded joy.
