Dubey: "Feeling great, good opportunity with the promotion to prove myself. Obviously, I have been batting up the order when I could in age-group cricket. They lessened because of the Impact Player rule, but today, I got a chance and scored the runs. We had a plan that I had to play till the 16th over, so I played like that."

In the final stages of the chase, India A only 12 runs away from sealing their semi-finals berth. Wadhera steers the first delivery from Shafiq to mid-wicket for two runs and follows up with a single. A huge bumper rolls over Dubey’s shoulders and that will be called a wide. This has been a stoic knock from the youngster, making the most of his unusual promotion.

100 up for India A with a shoddy bit of piece fielding in the deep. Dubey drags Samay to wide long-on and a jogging Bisht cannot prevent FOUR runs. Now it's Samay's turn to spray the delivery well outside the off-stump and concede two extra byes to India A. Dubey attempts a couple of ramps and scoops but misses. Samay tosses the ball outside Dubey's arc but ends up conceding another wide. And this time Dubey connects with a reverse-sweep behind point for FOUR! Overpitched and this time Harsh gets a sweet connection on the sweep for FOUR more!

IND-A 112/3 in 14 overs (Target: 136)

Zikria Islam into the attack. The tweakers keep on coming for Oman. Quicker delivery into the pads and a swift swivel-pull from Nehal clears the square leg fence for SIX! 10 from the over and the equation has once again come down in India's control.

IND A 88/3 in 12 overs (Target: 136)

Dubey builds on the confidence of the six and unleashes a fierce sweep through the square for a FOUR off Odedra. But the dots continue to pile up on either side of the boundaries. New batter Nehal Wadhera gets off the mark as the chase reaches the half-way stage.

Samay Shrivastava into the attack

CRUNCHED! The leggie tosses one in and Naman plays with the angle, smoothly smoking the ball through extra cover for FOUR. A single to follow and Harsh gets on in the act with a cheeky paddle past the keeper for FOUR. 11 from the over. The pressure continues to fritters down from the chase with a vein of boundaries.

Odedra into his third over and Vaibhav is sighting them well now. He makes room and smears the ball through cover for FOUR. In the air and is that taken? Yes, Suryavanshi perishes with a miscued slog to long-off. A clean catch there from Aryan Bisht and Suryavanshi's over-enthusiastic innings waters down quite early. Interesting promotion for Harsh Dubey and Odedra rips one past his outside edge first up.

Naman times the ball well but finds the fielders in the ring four times in succession. Some jitters all round for the Indians in the tournament, safe Vaibhav, of course. Odedra walks away with a miserly over, conceding just the single run.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Priyansh Arya walk out for the chase. Last-minute chat in the Oman huddle with the coach before the disperse out to the field. Jay Odedra takes the new ball.

Suryavanshi blocks out the first two deliveries and then takes on the offie and lofts the ball streakily with the turn over cover for FOUR. IN THE AIR and dropped this time! A rash hoick from Suryavanshi and the mistimed edge flies to Saishiv who spills it running backwards from cover. A slightly tough chance there but Oman cannot afford such slip-ups if they are to pull off an upset tonight.

Maiden T20 fifty for Wasim as he wades through to the milestone with a ramped boundary in 43 deliveries. He has managed to hold fort and also unfurl some strokes occassionally against the fall of wicket at the other end. That must hold him in good stead before returning with the ball later on. An over to go, can Oman get as close to 150 as possible?

Oman 129/5 in 19 overs

Naman Dhir runs through another quick over as the Oman batters struggle to put a couple of loopy deliveries out of their sight. Just the single from that over and Vyshak returns with an array of short deliveries to keep Wasim under the pump. He looks weary on the pull as he moves into the 40s and Vysakh's pace only makes it difficult to counter such shorter lengths. Fraction wide and Wasim flays the ball through extra cover for FOUR, a first in 20 balls.

Oman 113/5 in 17 overs

A loose drag-down from Dubey and Wasim tonks the ball gun-barrel straight down the ground for a huge SIX! A single to follow and there comes a pearler from the bowler. Harsh squares up Aryan Bisht with a ripper that turns sharp from length to make the batter play down the wrong line while hitting the pads. That's plumb and the umpire raises his finger in a jiffy.

Harsh goes flatter and across the turf and Wasim drags it to Nehal at wide long-on who lets it through him for FOUR. The batters keep the scoring afloat with a run of singles. India have not been really great at securing the dots to stub more pressure into the batters.

The players break for a drinks and Oman have played themselves into India's lair here, a rut they can't figure when they got into. Perhaps the momentum broke with the captain's dismissal in the fourth over. Hammad Mirza was looking his element, flaying the off-side boundary with a string of exquisite shots. Oman clearly lacking the firepower to force boundaries and put the bowlers under pressure.

Wasim and Karan tread on a diet of singles and Harsh doesn't give much away in terms of room. A touch of sloppy fielding at short third concedes two runs and Harsh puts on a wry smile. The board keeps ticking in a trickle.

Change of ends for Gurjapneet.

Short delivery and Wasim heaves it across the line and a shoddy piece of fielding in the deep from Ashutosh hands him FOUR runs. Gurjapneet shapes the ball away and Wasim stays on the on-side and taps the ball past point for another FOUR! And that's FIFTY up for Oman. Been a decent hit in the PP albeit with a costly loss of the skipper Mirza who pretty much set the tone.

A wafter outside the off-stump and Hammad uses his well-oiled swing once through the off-side, this time behind point for another gorgeous FOUR runs. Any erring delivery on length and the skipper has punished the bowlers to power a good start. And finally Vyshak gets steadier with his lines, attacking the stumps and he gets his reward straightaway! Hammad departs after an enthralling start. Vyshakh cuts on pace yet again but cramps up the Oman captain with the shorter length. He doesn't quite the connection right time and sends the ball straight down the deep square leg fielder's throat.

Vijaykumar Vyshak into the attack

A scorcher of a pick-up shot that! Vyshak hits the length hard and Mirza biffs the ball on the up over covers for a superb SIX. A couple of singles to follow and Vyshak rolls in the slower-delivery on the two-paced surface, taking Mirza off guard. The slice falls just past mid-wicket, offering a streaky single.

A nice shiny surface out in the middle, as the Indians set out to field. Much cooler conditions today down to 27 degrees Celsius. There's a firm breeze blowing across and the left-arm angle of Gurjapneet could put that to use early on here. But hold up, it's Ramandeep Singh who takes the new ball yet again!

India rejig their bowling stocks with Vijaykumar Vyshak replacign Yash Thakur in the playing XI. The Karnataka seamer had come close of making his T20I debut in South Africa last year has been a key bowler for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru over the last two seasons.

In September, the Oman side went up against the senior Indian side and nearly gave a scare to the world champions. Batting first, India put on 188 on the board at the loss of eight wickets with Sanju Samson leading the way with a half-century. In the chase, Oman came within 22 runs off pulling off a stunning win but India's superior bowlers just about constricted things their way. They could only manage four wickets and Oman did put on a decent account of themselves in Abu Dhabi that night. Do not expect things to be easy tonight.

At 25, Naman Dhir has already had a taste of captaincy in Punjab colours in the longest format. A high-quality fielder and a batter that can get the job done at any position, Dhir can also chip in with handy spells with the ball. Spotted first by the Mumbai Indians, Dhir's stocks have been on the rise in the T20 format and a good performance in the rest of the tournament here could just propel him towards the India cap and call-up pretty soon.

Vaibhav's unrelenting carnage on the UAE bowlers last week even had veterans in the domestic game gob-smacked. Gujarat legend Priyank Panchal it was only a matter of time before Vaibhav is put on the fast lanes to the Indian senior team. “This is simply insane. I’ve a feel Vaibhav will be fast-tracked into the senior team within two years. Whether that’s a right call or not, only time will tell. I’ll hold back such temptations for a while. But such performances are simply too exemplary to be ignored,” Panchal had written on social media, shortly after Suryavanshi pumped 15 sixes and 11 fours in Doha.

Perhaps with all of the spotlight falling entirely on his young opening partner, Priyansh Arya could have had it easy to dominate the opposition attacks. However, the Delhi left-hander has struggled to get on with the runs in the last two innings, falling on 10 against both UAE and Pakistan.

It is not that the southpaw has been out of fom either. Priyansh relished a fluent Ranji Trophy debut for Delhi recently and even struck a century against Australia A in his List A debut last monh in Kanput.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi's precocious feats wowed everyone who checked in on the IPL 2025 season. Within a season of butchering the U-19 circuit, Suryavanshi was feasting on India's premier bowlers in the Rajasthan Royals jersey. Last week, he went on an almighty tear as he walloped UAE's bowlers in India A's campaign opener in Doha. Breaking a slew of world and Indian records, Suryavanshi clearly showed how he is a cut above the rest and belonged to a level above his teenage peers.

Ahead of the latest contest, even Oman's Indian-born cricketers were left wondering whether he is indeed only 14 years old.

"We've only seen Vaibhav Suryavanshi on TV, and now we'll be playing against him," Aryan Bisht told in a chat with the Times of India.

"When you're 14 and you're able to hit the ball that far, that's just exceptional talent. It's something not everybody can do - definitely something I couldn't do at that age. 14 saal ke ho, kaise maarte ho ye chakke? [At 14, how are you smashing those sixes?] He's really talented and very good, so I'm really looking forward to playing against him," he added.
