The 96th Academy Awards took over the internet on Monday. From celebrities slaying on the red carpet to John Cena walking naked on the stage, Oscars 2024 had film enthusiasts eagerly anticipating each moment. While social media is abuzz with videos, one particularly ‘pawdorable’ attendee, Messi, stole the spotlight. The 7-year-old dog, famed for his role in Anatomy of a Fall, is winning hearts amidst the glitz and glam of the event.

Messi played Snoop, Milo Machado-Garner’s service dog in the Oscar-winning film. The border collie shot to fame ever since and has been attending award events. He debuted at the 96th Academy Awards, leaving social media users in awe.

In a video shared by Variety, Messi can be seen peeing on Matt Damon’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Reacting to the video, a user commented, “Looks like Messi’s dribbling skills aren’t just limited to the soccer field! Matt Damon might want to watch his step next time he’s on the Walk of Fame. Talk about an unexpected cameo!”

For those coming late to the story, Jimmy Kimmel and Matt Damon’s satirical public feud got nationwide coverage when the former ended season 3 of Jimmy Kimmel Live! by saying “Apologies to Matt Damon, but we ran out of time.”

In 2018, Damon notably offered Kimmel’s then-girlfriend Sarah Silverman to make a music video jokingly suggesting the two had an affair.

Meanwhile, Anatomy of a Fall won the Best Original Screenplay, and American Fiction won Best Adapted Screenplay. Cillian Murphy bagged the Best Actor in a Leading Role for Oppenheimer, and Emma Stone secured her second Oscar by winning the Best Actress in a Leading Role for Poor Things.
