New Hampshire girl gets back beloved stuffed animal as Strafford town workers dig through trash

The girl’s mother took to Facebook to alert their town of the missing pup doll. Luckily, Strafford City Selectman saw the post and sprang into action.

Spring cleaning in the United States’ New Hampshire turned into a heartwarming story of community effort after a resident, Jake McAlpin, accidentally tossed his daughter’s favourite stuffed dog ‘Cupcake’ into a public trash bin.

The beloved stuffed dog was then returned by a dedicated team of city employees who dug through the mountain of trash, in response to a post by McAlpin’s wife.

McAlpin’s wife, realising their mistake, took to Facebook to alert their town of the missing pup doll. Luckily, Strafford City Selectman Brian Monahan saw the post and sprang into action, contacting the town’s transfer station.

The post shared by @tanksgoodnews further explained, faced with a mountain of trash, determined city employees didn’t give up and after hours of digging, they finally unearthed Cupcake.

This post has melted hearts across the globe as netizens on Instagram praised and showered love over the selfless act. One user shared a similar experience and wrote, “I lost my favourite stuffed animal at the Toronto airport when I was 6, a very kind custodian found it for me after a 30 min tantrum.”

A second user chimed in with, “I remember when someone very kind did this for me. A very long time ago. Lost piece of jewellery & they went hours through the trash at their workplace. I was stunned they did this. I barely knew them. Kind people exist.”
