Marshmallows! What comes to ones mind about the small chewy sweet is that it can be eaten in one bite. However, the new record-breaking marshmallow created by a popular confectionary company Dulces Mazapán de la Rosa is no small feat.
Earlier this year, the candy company created a marshmallow that weighed 648.4 kg. With this, the gigantic sweet became the world’s largest marshmallow. For scale, the marshmallow weighed more than a Steinway D274 grand piano that weighs just 480 kg (1,058 lb).
It took a total of 53 hours of preparation and a team of 100 people to make the marshmallow. It was unveiled at a special event that was a part of the 200th-anniversary celebrations of the state of Jalisco in Mexico. The marshmallow’s record was verified in public at a temporary industrial plant installed at the Plaza Fundadores, a popular urban square in Guadalajara.

After the record was verified by Guinness World Records adjudicator Carlos Tapia, the marshmallow was distributed to the public.
Previously, the record for the world’s largest marshmallow was held by Berkhamsted School, an independent school in the UK. The school made a 93.1 kg marshmallow on October 2019.
This is not the first time that Dulces Mazapán de la Rosa has created a world record. In 2018, the company got the Guinness World Records title for making the largest peanut mazapán candy in Guadalajara
