The photo was taken by a couple named Amit and Nir at the music festival in Israel. Thousands of young people, who were attending an outdoor music festival named Supernova close to Gaza Strip border in southern Israel, came under attack from Hamas militants last Saturday. More than 260 festival-goers lost their lives in the attack and many were taken hostage by the militants who descended in paragliders on the festival, according to videos circulating on social media.
The festival held in Re’im, a rural region close to the Gaza Strip border in southern Israel, coincided with a weeklong Jewish holiday of Sukkot observed from September 29 to October 6, 2023.
Amid the brutal violence, a couple who were hiding in the bushes to escape from Hamas terrorists, decided to take a “final picture”. As the couple lay on the ground, they took a selfie while kissing each other. They took the picture in the hope that if they do not survive, their love would last forever. However, the story had a happy ending as both of them survived the attack, according to news circulating on social media.
An Instagram page Jewish Lives Matter posted their photo on Wednesday with the caption, “This picture, taken by a couple named Amit and Nir at the music festival in Israel, captures a moment of lasting love as they sought refuge in the bushes from Hamas terrorists. Hundreds of innocent souls were getting slaughtered and the two decided to take a final picture so their love would last forever. This story has a happy ending, as they both survived and will cherish their picture forever.”
