From spicy pani puri to creamy butter chicken, foreigners are increasingly embracing Indian street food, clear from the many videos that go viral. Now, a fun video shared by the popular content creator duo Nick and Carrie is winning hearts on social media.

The viral clip shows Carrie, originally from Hong Kong, trying vada pav in Mumbai for the first time. However, what caught the Internet’s attention wasn’t how Carrie enjoyed the spicy snack, but the way she ordered it. The video opens with on-screen text reading, “My girlfriend’s first time trying vada pav on the street.” Nick, who is from India, is joined by Carrie and two friends on a casual food trail.

When they reach the food stall, Carrie insists on placing the order herself. They call out to the vendor, addressing him as “Bhaiya”. Then, to everyone’s surprise, Carrie attempts Marathi, asking, “Bhau, mala vada pav dya na?” Her slightly broken attempt leaves her friends in stitches.

Curious if she said it right, Carrie turns to her friends and asks, “Did I say it right?” Nick asks how she even knew the phrase. “I Googled it,” she says. As they wait to see if the vendor understood, he is seen holding up a vada pav. “He’s so quick!” Nick says.

Carrie takes a bite and says, “It’s so good.” Nick then asks, “What’s the difference between hotel vada pav and street vada pav?” and without hesitation, Carrie responds, pointing to the one in her hand, “This is way better! 10/10.”
