Social media users have expressed shock and gross over the act.

One user commented on Instagram that the video could be from Laos because people there have a habit of eating cow waste as part of their culture.

“In Laos, we have a dipping sauce made with spices and herbs, sometimes with a little bit of cow dung. But just a little. However, I’ve never seen anyone eating grass like a cake before. Let me explain a bit more. The cow dung they’re talking about comes from the small intestines of a cow that was butchered the same day. Nobody eats the dung that a cow poops out on the ground because it has dangerous bacteria. Laotians only slaughter a cow or buffalo on special occasions, like weddings or our New Year celebrations (which is in May). Once the cow is butchered, we feed the whole village and don’t waste any part of the animal. We eat its tough skin, all its organs, including its intestines (which sometimes have grass in them). We use the bones to make soup, and we give the bone marrow to the children because it’s good for them. This is how we show respect for the animal that died to feed us.”

Another added, “I don’t wanna imagine the smell.” And a third utterly repulsed by it, stated, “Please don’t tell me it is what i think it is.”
