A woman in Thailand found herself stranded on a wooden suspension bridge after following the GPS instructions without considering the suitability of the route. The incident unfolded around 5:40 pm on January 28, as the woman’s white Honda Sedan became wedged in the middle of Wiang Thong Bridge.
The narrow 120-metre-long bridge, originally designed for pedestrian use only, proved to be an unsuitable route for the sedan. The Pattaya News reported that the car had advanced 15 metres onto the bridge, with its front left wheel caught in one of the gaps, rendering it immobile.
Passerby Makun Inchan, who was about to cross the bridge, noticed the stranded vehicle and heard the driver’s calls for help. Recognising the urgency of the situation, Inchan promptly alerted emergency responders, who swiftly arrived at the scene to assess the predicament.

Rescue efforts were initiated to retrieve the stranded vehicle without causing any further damage. Two tractors were employed to carefully tow the Honda Sedan back to safety. The successful operation ensured the woman’s vehicle was safely removed from the precarious position on the bridge.
One Instagram user wrote, “ if GPS send her off to a cliff she just drive off is it ?” Another added, “The real question, why is there a bridge nearby?” One more netizen said, “That’s always 1st in everything.”
The incident serves as a cautionary tale about blindly relying on GPS instructions without assessing the nature of the route. While the mishap ended without injuries or damage, it highlights the potential risks associated with solely relying on navigation technology, urging drivers to remain vigilant and consider the surroundings when navigating unfamiliar routes.
