An optical illusion created by a UK-based ceramics and tile company is winning over netizens because of its stunning design. The optical illusion, made in a hallway of Casa Ceramica’s Manchester store, makes the floor look as if it has caved in. On the company website, Casa Ceramica said it wanted to have a design for its customers to remember for a long time after their visit. The company wrote, “We decided that as the floor sloped up we would make the ceiling slope down, thus creating the illusion that the space was shrinking. This is where the concept of creating an Alice in Wonderland theme came in. We gathered ideas following a black and white chequerboard idea seen within the movie.” Other than installing the tiles in a way that created an illusion of a caved-in floor, the company also commissioned illustrator Myro to make free-hand-doodles inspired by quotes from the 2010 movie Alice in Wonderland and Tony Walsh’s famous poem This is the Place. Commenting on it, a Twitter user wrote, “They need to put these around swimming pools (former lifeguard here)”. Another person said, “They should install one of these in Indian wedding halls so children can stop running for no reason.”
