Shatabdi Express Running Status: Among one of the fastest trains of Indian Railways, running at up to 130–150 km/h (81–93 mph), the Shatabdi Express trains are a series of fast passenger trains operated by Indian Railways to connect metro cities with other cities.
Introduced in the year 1988 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India, Shatabdi, which means century in Hindi, was launched as a part of the 100th birth celebration of Nehru.
The first Shatabdi Express was between New Delhi and Jhansi. Designed for quick travel between major urban centres, minimising stops along their routes, with the capability to reach speeds up to 150 km/h (93 mph), Shatabdi Express has now expanded to connect about 25 cities and 21 operational routes across the country.
