Waking up early in the morning can be a challenge, but the right alarm clock can make a world of difference. Sometimes the clock app built into your phone may not be enough. If that’s the case and you’re an Android user, you’re in luck: there are a plethora of alarm clock apps available on the Google Play Store and some of them offer really unique features. In this article, we’ve rounded up the top alarm clock apps for Android, so you can wake up feeling refreshed and ready to tackle the day ahead.

Alarmy

If you often unconsciously turn off your alarm, fall asleep again, and miss out on important stuff as a result, then Alarmy will come in handy. It makes the task of turning off your alarm a lot more difficult so that you are fully awake and aware by the time you’re finally able to turn the alarm off. For example, Math Mission forces you to solve a math problem right when you wake up. There’s also a Photo Mission that forces you to wake up and take a photo of the registered place to dismiss the alarm.

AlarmMon

AlarmMon is a fun and unique take on alarm clocks. It gets you to play a game right when you open your eyes, giving you that early morning kick. When you open it for the first time it’ll ask you the kind of sleeper you are – light, moderate, or heavy – and suggests games accordingly. Selecting that you are a heavy sleeper and that you wish to perform a physical activity upon waking up presents you with a game called Zombie Lengtoo where you have to tap to break a glass window and rescue a cute animal from a zombie attack. The alarm rings until you finish the game. There are many more games like this one to pick from.

Sleep as Android

Sleep as Android is among the most popular sleep-tracking apps on Android — and it also doubles up as an alarm clock app. The description for the app calls it “a swiss knife tool for your sleep” and looking at the features list it certainly seems that way. Aside from elaborate sleep-tracking features that don’t even require a smartwatch, the app uses AI-powered sound detection to try to fix your snoring and register sleep talk. Unlike Alarmy which forces you out of your bed, Sleep as Android tries to do the same gently, which can be helpful for those with anxiety problems. The app also integrates with Google Fit, Samsung Health, Android Wear, and Spotify.

This app also goes out of the way to wake you up on time with its eight different wake-up tasks that won’t let you turn the alarm off until you finish them. These are as follows:

Math: do some math equations
Memory: find pairs for each coloured tile
Order: set tiles in the correct order
Repeat: repeat shown click sequence
Barcode: you have to get out of bed to scan the code placed in the bathroom, kitchen, or just on your table
Rewrite: carefully rewrite randomly generated text
Shake: shake your phone until you feel awake
Match: connect word pairs

Mornify

Mornify is an alarm clock app dedicated to waking you up with music based on the mood or the activity you wish to wake up for. You can search for artists, genres, moods, and curated playlists, or use the music stored on your phone to make the most of your alarms.
