Residents of the Tricity can expect slightly warmer days over the coming week, but night temperature is set to remain low, keeping the winter chill intact, according to the latest weather forecast.
Meteorological data shows that while maximum temperature is likely to hover between 22 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius over the next five days, minimum temperatures will continue to stay low, ranging from 5 degrees Celsius to 6 degrees Celsius. The pattern indicates a gradual rise in daytime warmth, but cold nights will persist, especially during the early morning hours.
For January 18, the region is expected to witness partly cloudy skies with moderate to dense fog, with the maximum temperature around 22 degrees Celsius and the minimum at 6 degrees Celsius. On January 19, skies will turn mostly cloudy with dense fog, while the temperature may rise slightly, touching a high of 23 degrees Celsius and a low of 6 degrees Celsius.
The foggy trend is set to continue on January 20, with mostly cloudy conditions and dense fog. The maximum temperature is expected to settle around 22 degrees Celsius, while the minimum may dip to 5 degrees Celsius. January 21 is forecast to remain largely similar, with dense fog under mostly cloudy skies and temperatures likely to range between 23 degrees Celsius and 5 degrees Celsius.
By January 22, weather conditions may show slight improvement during the day with partly cloudy skies, but moderate to dense fog is still expected during morning and late-night hours. The maximum temperature could reach up to 24 degrees Celsius, while the minimum is predicted to stay around 5 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, observations recorded at the Chandigarh weather observatory on January 17 showed a maximum temperature of 22 degrees Celsius, which was about 4 degrees Celsius above normal, and a minimum temperature of 6 degrees Celsius, slightly below the seasonal average. Relative humidity remained high, with a maximum of 94 per cent, indicating favourable conditions for fog formation.
With dense fog predicted on most days, commuters have been advised to exercise caution while driving during early morning and late-night hours due to reduced visibility.
