With 12 million active internet users,Mumbai has emerged as the city with the highest number of internet users in the country,followed by Delhi with 8.1 million and Hyderabad with 4.7 million.
Interestingly,India’s IT hub Bangalore falls behind five cities with just 3.8 million internet users in 2013.
Overall,the top four metros have a 37% penetration of Active Internet Users,with Hyderabad leading the charge with a penetration of 37%. Coimbatore with 40% penetration,leads in the small metros category.
Kolkata,with 47% y-o-y growth,registered the highest growth of internet users among all the top cities,followed by Mumbai with 45% and Bangalore with 43%. Delhi registered a y-o-y growth of 35%. Ahmedabad,with y-o-y 26%,registered the lowest growth rate among the top eight cities.
