Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) president Vinay Kumar on Tuesday said truth has prevailed in the National Herald case and the Modi government’s alleged ‘mala fide intent and unlawful actions have been completely exposed’. Kumar said the court has found the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) action against the Congress leadership — Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi — in the Young Indian case to be illegal and driven by malice.

In the Young Indian case, the court has declared the entire action initiated by the ED against Congress leaders as illegal, unconstitutional, and motivated by mala fide intent. The court has categorically said the ED neither has a valid FIR nor any jurisdiction in the matter.

He said the court has ruled that the ED’s case falls outside its jurisdiction and that there is no FIR in the matter, without which no case can be made out. “For the past decade, the Modi government has been pursuing politically motivated and vindictive action against the country’s principal opposition party. Today, this has been exposed before the entire nation,” he said.

Vinay Kumar said there was no money laundering case at all. “All the baseless allegations, driven by low-level politics, vindictiveness and an attempt to attack the dignity of the Congress leadership, have completely collapsed,” he said.

Vinay Kumar also said the Congress party and its leadership remain committed to fighting for the truth and for the rights of every Indian citizen.

Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Anirudh Singh and Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani, in a joint press statement issued Tuesday, said that the court’s verdict has delivered a resounding defeat to the authoritarian mindset of the Central government, its arrogance of power, and its blatant misuse of democratic institutions.
