Food delivery platform Zomato has released a handful of new features over the past couple of months that range from ticket-reselling to simplifying corporate food orders. The latest additions come ahead of the launch of Zomato District, which is billed to be a separate “going-out” app to make reservations at restaurants, purchase concert tickets, etc.

While making the announcement, Deepinder Goyal, the cofounder and CEO of Zomato, said that the food tech major’s aim is to build products and services to cater to the changing lifestyle of Indians. Here is a quick look at all the new features rolled out on the platform.

Book Now, Sell Anytime

This feature lets users purchase tickets to live events and put them up for sale on the same app at a lower or higher price than the original cost of the ticket. However, each user can only purchase a total of ten tickets and the resale price will be capped to 2x of the live prices of tickets. The same resale price limits are applicable if the event is sold out.

Zomato for Enterprises

Zomato for Enterprises allows companies to streamline and simplify their food expense management on the app. The feature looks to make it easier for employees to be reimbursed from their employer by directly being able to bill food orders to the business account.

Additionally, companies can use this feature to add employees, fix food ordering budgets, and set up other rules around food ordering.

Zomato Pre-Ordering

Zomato users can now schedule their food delivery orders up to two days in advance. However, the pre-ordering option is only for food delivery orders that cost more than Rs 1,000. It is currently live in over 13,000 restaurants across seven cities, including Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, and Jaipur.

Zomato Group Ordering

Group order enables Zomato users to invite their friends and family to build an online order, making it a perfect option during celebrations and parties. It allows two or more people to get their food using a single order. Zomato said it is currently rolling it out for select users and it will be available for everyone in the coming days. Meanwhile, Swiggy has made the same feature live for all users.

Zomato Live Order Count

In June this year, Zomato introduced a new feature called ‘Live Order Count’ which lets users receive real-time updates on all the food delivery orders placed across India via the app. It is essentially a counter that will appear after you place your order on the platform. From July, Zomato also began allowing users to delete individual orders from their order history. This option was rolled out by the company in response to a customer who wanted to hide some of his orders that had been placed late in the night.

Zomato Restaurant Services Hub

Through its Restaurant Services Hub, Zomato currently offers services related to staffing and licensing essentials to restaurants. In the last six months, the restaurant services hub has already serviced over 3,200 restaurants and it will be extended to all restaurants across India, irrespective of their arrangement with Zomato, the company said in a statement.

The food delivery platform also said that it will soon launch multiple services such as POS (point of sale) device integrations and hygiene audits to help restaurant partners at every step of their journey right from planning, launching, operating, and scaling their businesses.
