Tinder, the popular online dating and socialising platform, is undergoing a massive makeover to align with the preferences of the new generation. The latest version of the Tinder app, available for both Android and iOS devices, introduces a new set of features designed to cater to a more modern and diverse society.
“At Tinder, we understand that connecting today is about authenticity, depth, and the desire for connections that go beyond the surface. This suite of features is the response to this evolving need. We know the new generation of daters prioritizes value-based qualities such as respect (78 per cent)* and open-mindedness (61 per cent)* over looks (5 per cent)*. They care about authentic connections formed through shared interests and common causes and have no time for the ‘game-playing’ of previous generations. They want to portray their true authentic selves and expect the same in return. With these new profile and discovery features, it’s never been that easy and fun to share what makes you unique,” says Tinder’s Chief Product Offer Mark Van Ryswyk.
The highlights of the updated Tinder app include “Profile Prompts,” which help users express their personalities by selecting and responding to prompts provided by matched individuals. According to Tinder, “The key to my heart is,” “The first item on my bucket list is,” and “Two truths and a lie” are the three most popular prompts worldwide.
A new profile quiz option assists matched profiles in discovering compatibility by answering a simple quiz. Similarly, Tinder now allows users to add basic info tags such as zodiac signs and love languages to their profiles, aiding potential matches in getting to know more about them.
Tinder is also enhancing the reporting system, enabling users to report specific profiles by marking particular elements of the profile. All these features are encapsulated within the brand-new Rizz-First UI with updated animations, and the platform has also refreshed the “It’s a Match!” screen. Finally, a dedicated dark mode has been introduced for those who like to swipe right/left during late nights, making it one of the first dating apps to offer this capability.
